For 11PM, hardcore is art, and art is hardcore...When we were clued in to Max Blagg’s brand of poetry, which many would liken to the beat movement or early no wave movement (both of which he was involved in), all we heard was Middle Class, MDC, and Scream's Came Without Warning. Born of the same 1980's hardcore atmosphere, inspired by the same environment of modern instability, the urgency of this time period leaks into all forms of art beyond our understanding as hardcore punk enthusiasts. This truth is absolutely evident in this 7" of collected poems from archival recordings of sessions never before pressed on vinyl. Hear Max Blagg as never before, captured raw, like demo sessions for a hardcore punk band that never could exist. Mere blocks away on the same nights, the original NYHC bands were carving out their sound from the very same environment. WARNING THE BABYLONIANS provides context for hardcore punk in the larger art world, while also showcasing the parallel aesthetic movements occurring downtown in New York at the time. The themes surrounding this work are ever present today, so hark the end times as the eye of the vortex grows smaller. These five poems are dedicated to the life beyond the average!
